Six-time South African rally champion, Jan Habig, of KwaZulu-Natal, and his co-driver, Robert Paisley, also of KZN, will compete under the banner of local construction giant Basil Read in 2012. The pair, which resigned from the Volkswagen Motorsport team at the end of last year, will share a new Ford Fiesta S2000 in the new season.

Esapekka Lappi got his Finnish Rally Championship started in record-breaking style at the Arctic Lapland Rally in Rovaniemi this weekend. In the second rally of the season, Lappi - a member of the Finnish Autosport Association ran Driver Academy for talented young drivers - became the youngest ever winner of the iconic event.

Ford Fiesta S2000 driver Ott Tänak has strengthened his chances of winning the S-WRC title at the championship's finale later this month with his stunning victory at this weekend's Rallye de France.
The 23-year-old led the penultimate round of the S-WRC at the end of the first day and finished two minutes and 33.7 seconds ahead of his closest competitor. Fellow Fiesta S2000 driver Martin Prokop secured a second podium spot for Ford after he finished third, only seven seconds behind Eyvind Brynildsen.
