Breen Rallying Fiesta S2000 Gravel Test
Monday, 01 February 2010 10:31

Twenty-four hours after the official launch his Fiesta S2000 Craig and the team were in Charleville, Co. Cork for the Petro System National Forestry Championship Test day. This was Craig's first opportunity to drive the Fiesta S2000 in anger on a stage. Over the course of the day Craig and Gareth took the new car over the 7km stage on seven occasions and as the day drew to a finish both Craig and the team were very satisfied with the days work.

The Tom Gahan Motorsport team arrived early and started to make the necessary changes on the car from the launch setup. The crew started with a familiarisation run over the stage and Craig improved his time on each of the following attacks on the stage.

Quotes:

Craig: "The car feels a lot different from the ST and R2 models and I need to get time in the car but I'm more than happen with today. Yesterday was a big day with the launch, but today was very important as the work started here. After my first drive over the stage I then put in a benchmark, for the remaining runs I got faster and that build's confidence. With what we've learned today we can take with us to the next test which will all help before we head to Galway next weekend."

Gareth: "I'm very happy with the test. Today was just about getting time in the car. We did drive the car at the launch but this morning was the first time both Craig and I got to work and there's a lot of work to do before next weekend."

Ray Breen: Today was Craig and Gareth's first time to put miles on the car in action. This is a new car, Craig will need to have seat time and learn the car before he can push."

Tom Gahan: The S2000 is a totally different car from what Craig has driven before. When he came back after each run he described it in some ways like the R2 car, then in another breath it's like the Focus and in much it is. We are not changing much at this point as Craig needs to build a rapport with the car and then we can start refine and make adjustments to the setup."
